- IBC Daily News Saturday 08/09/2007 DVB quality index for Navigator DVB quality index for Navigator
by David Davies
The new Goldeneye DVB quality evaluation software for Audemat-Aztec's Navigator DVB mobile measurement unit enables DVB broadcasters to quantify their signal by giving a quality index from 1 to 5.
"Most of the metering units out there analyse the RF and MPEG content with many components and parameters," commented Nicolas Boulay, director of the R&D department at Audemat-Aztec.
"This new module will help broadcasters to determine from the user's point of view if their signal is good or not."
Goldeneye allows users to replay audio and video recordings and identify troublespots. While version 1 provides two common quality indicators, version 2 - set to be made available in December - will use the Audemat-Aztec algorithm. Existing Navigator DVB customers that purchase this option will receive the December software release free of charge.
Audemat-Aztec also has a software and hardware update of its existing Navigator DVB-T/H that sees the unit become compatible with the 4K mode.DVB quality index for Navigator
