Radio All In one: the first unit of its kind on the market to combine many features

Bordeaux-Mérignac, FranceMonday, April 14, 2008, ECRESO (www.ECRESO.com) announced that they are introducing at NAB2008 on the AUDEMAT booth N7932 the NEW NEXT FM. The NEXT FM is a new generation of FM exciter that can be delivered in 3 different power ranges 1, 20W or 100W. On top of classic broadcasting functionalities, NEXT FM includes additional and innovative features such as stereo encoding, FM/HD/DAB sound processing, RDS encoding, audio back up, capability to manage a 1+1 installation and perform preventive maintenance with embedded broadcast test equipment.

NEXT FM comes in three different packs: standard, high quality or re-broadcasting pack and seven different versions to match as many requirements as possible. “This is Radio all in One” states Jean-Baptiste Roux, “we just need to add an antenna and you are on the air!” Adds Roux. “We have decided to combine the Ecreso “know-how” for FM transmitters to the Audemat expertise in RDS, Audio over IP, Remote control, FM broadcasting and Audio Processing.” The NEXT FM reflects current issues facing engineers: lack of space, price and efficiency concerns.

Ecreso 1, 20 or 100 W exciter:

It has low distortion < 0.05 % and the best FM S/N ratio > 80 dB. It also has a very good channel separation up to 50 dB over the whole band and PLL controlled by microprocessor. It is adjustable from 2 to 20W or 10 to 100W (depending on version). Those exciters are compatible with Ecreso amplifiers or any other brand available on the market.

Digital stereo generator:

The NEXT FM includes an extremely accurate and stable digital stereo generator that allows the audio bandwidth to be extended to 17 kHz without affecting the pilot!

Basic RDS functions standard: artist name, song title, PS scrolling:

Users can choose between a basic RDS encoder or an advanced RDS encoder for TMC, ODA, Scheduler capabilities etc…Engineers will benefit from Audemat’s world leading experience in RDS.

A unique digital audio processing system:

It is a world-class audio processor, the first one in its class available on the market either in 2, 4 or 6 bands. The 4 band version features 2.8 Giga flops of processing power which allows a sampling frequency for processing of 192 kHz and a sampling frequency for the final clipper at 1.5 MHz. The NEXT FM provides an analog feel to the sound with the accuracy you would expect from a digital processor. “The DSPs in the ECRESO NEXT FM feature one of the highest calculation rates available to date (4 giga-flops).” States Nicolas Boulay, Vice President of Research and development for ECRESO.

3 levels of audio backup:

The user defines timing and cross fades: if digital audio fails switch to analog input, if digital and analog fail switch to web stream (new), if all of the above fail play audio stored on internal hard drive This is a unique Audio over IP feature – the first available on the market in this type of equipment.

Remote control:

The option is delivered with the new SCRIPTEASY V2 - Graphic control software. An API is available for transmitter remote control over a serial connection.

Reliability and efficiency:

The ECRESO R&D team worked specifically on the reliability of the unit to avoid any potential failure. In fact, the operating system is contained within flash memory to insure continued operation in case of the remote possibility of hard drive failure. The NEXT FM includes 2 power supplies for maximum redundancy in the 100 W standard and both 20 W and 100 W high quality version. The unit is very efficient as it replaces several units at the site.

Availability:

Standard and high quality pack will be available in June 2008; retransmitter pack will be available on the 2nd half of 2008

Radio All In one: the first unit of its kind on the market to combine many features

Bordeaux-Mérignac, FranceWednesday, April 02, 2008, AUDEMAT (www.audemat.com) announced that they are introducing at NAB2008 on their booth N7932 the NEW DIGIPLEXER 246. The DIGIPLEXER 246 is a 3U unit with a large touch screen that includes an FM/HD/DAB digital audio processor (2/4/6 band), RDS and Stereo generators, transmitter remote control capabilities, new backup audio over IP capabilities and a built-in FM exciter (20 or 100W). “This is a very unique concept” states Christophe Poulain. “We could have created just another Digital Audio processor for the market” Adds Poulain. “We have decided to combine our ‘know-how’ in RDS, Audio over IP, Remote control, FM broadcasting and Audio Processing. That’s revolutionary!” Concludes Poulain. The DIGIPLEXER 246 reflects current issues facing engineers: lack of space, price and efficiency concerns.

A unique digital audio processing system:

It is a world-class audio processor, the first one in its class available on the market. The 4 band version features 2.8 Giga flops of processing power which allows a sampling frequency for processing of 192 kHz and a sampling frequency for the final clipper at 1.5 MHz. The DIGIPLEXER series provides an analog feel to the sound with the accuracy you would expect from a digital processor. “The DSPs in the Audemat DIGIPLEXER 246 feature one of the highest calculation rates available to date (4 giga-flops).” States Nicolas Boulay, Vice President of Research and development for Audemat.

Basic RDS functions standard: artist name, song title, PS scrolling:

Users can choose between a basic RDS encoder (standard) or an advanced RDS encoder for TMC, ODA, Scheduler capabilities etc…Users will benefit from Audemat’s world leading experience in RDS.

Digital stereo generator:

The DIGIPLEXER 246 includes an extremely accurate and stable digital stereo generator that allows the audio bandwidth to be extended to 17 kHz without affecting the pilot!

Bordeaux-Mérignac, France – Wednesday, April 02, 2008, AUDEMAT (www.audemat.com) announced that they are introducing at NAB2008 on their booth N7932 the NAVIGATOR DVB S/H. It is the first test and measurement equipment for lab and field use in DVB-SH. This unit is the result of an R&D from Alcatel-Lucent to develop test and Measurement for DVB-SH. The NAVIGATOR DVB-SH has been designed to perform mobile measurement campaigns for DVB-T, DVB-H and DVB-SH networks and is compatible with S-UMTS and VHF/UHF bands. This portable equipment can be used either in a vehicle moving at normal speed or by a pedestrian (indoors or outdoors). The NAVIGATOR DVB-SH includes a high quality receiver for accurate DVB-SH measurements. When the mobile measurement campaign is finished, the DVB Reader software automatically performs a quality analysis: all the essential parameters are compared to standardized values and an overall quality indicator is generated (Good, Average or Bad). These indicators can also be displayed on a map, so that users can evaluate instantaneously their coverage quality. In addition the NAVIGATOR DVB-SH can be used for installation of DVB-SH terrestrial repeaters that complement satellite coverage. “The NAVIGATOR DVB-SH is the first mobile test and measurement equipment DVB-SH-by-Alcatel approved on the market” States Jean-Baptiste Roux VP of Sales for Audemat. “It is capable of measuring and determining the reception quality of a mobile DVB-H and DVB-SH TV signal”. This unit has been developed in partnership with Teamcast and UDCAST, two DVB specialists (Audemat and Teamcast), part of the Alcatel DVB-SH work group.
